He teaches English and Social Science in high school in California.
He updates his blog, teacher advice column weekly and he also writes a weekly post for New York Times.

In his blog, he post various topics related to education and there are thousands of posts!
He categorized his posts so that you could have the idea fo where to look at or to look for information on his blog.
Teachers can just search or skim for key words.

Take one of his popular post for example,
"The Best Places To Get The “Same” Text Written For Different “Levels”"
The title caught my eye because I think 'differentiation' is an important issue in today's classroom. He introduced many resources for this topic. Those websites help teacher prepare differentiated lesson/text more easily and time-saving. Among them, there is one called newsela.
"Newsela provides several “levels” of the same newspaper articles, along with accompanying online quizzes, that students can read and take. For a small fee, Teachers can create a virtual classroom, assign articles and monitor student progress. However, students can read the articles for free without having to pay anything."

Chinese New Year Traditions and Symbols-Grade level 7
I attached one of the article(news) and chose different levels.
Hope you will find something helpful.
See you next week.
Hey Kathy!
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you! The posts in this website are really unique and many of the titles attracted me to see what is in them! Such as: Great Infographic: “You’re Hired: The Skills Employers Seek in New Hires”
A great choice! :)
Congratulations on your first piece here! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's really helpful to read the same content in different versions as it brings about more critical thinking and readers may be unconsciously repeat reading on these materials since they would like to find the differences between them. So that's a good way to learn a language.
I looked into these elg blogs and found that some of the articles are really useful. I hope when I have free time, i will read it all.
