VoiceTube Tutorial

I just made a tutorial video by screencast-o-matic.
Please take a look at it and ignore some mistakes.๐Ÿ˜…

I love it because...

★ YouTube video is something we use quite a lot. With this kind of learning tool, it could be more than wonderful for autonomous learners.

★ It is like a personal helper. You can collect video list, word list, and notes. You will be able to go back at any time.

★ Listening and Speaking mode make you practise and you will be able to re-record if you are not satisfied. After recording, you can download it, it sounds like you become the voice-over.

★ It has in-built dictionary. If you have queries of words, you just click the word, it comes out explanation right away.

★ You can heart the words, and those words will become your own word list.

★ You can collect the videos add your own notes, it becomes your personal video library.

I have to think about...

▲ Students' autonomy and motivation. Are they motivated? Of course one thing couldn't fit everyone. Teachers may have clear understanding about students ways of learning or students' needs then this could be suitable for them.

▲ Being careful whether students would spend too much time on computer? Students may be distracted by other things on computer.

▲ The speaking mode. It doesn't get to examine. How do you know you say it correctly or not. Although it can "compare with original"; for learners, it will still have some queries if they check by themselves as they are not confident enough.

Comments

  1. This looks like a wonderful tool as well! I do believe that learners can learn correct pronunciation through imitation and repetition, especially older ones. This tool makes drilling so motivating because it makes students deal with materials that to a great extent can be described as authentic. In addition, the students can learn new words and phrases in contexts, which is a great thing!

    Thank you Kathy!
