BBC Easy Learning English-listening and speaking on the go

As we all know BBC news, it also dedicate to English learning. Their official  English learning website has a lot of learning resources for learners to explore. There are 11 courses and 9 topics on the website. BBC Learning English is a special program from BBC to help people all over the world to improve their English skill. The program includes lessons, stories and news reports which are written in quite simple words and spoken at slow speed so that learners could understand them easily. What I want to recommend today is the app. There are tons of apps on app store that are about BBC learning English and I am going to suggest two of them. 1. Easy BBC Learning English  (ios) This app covers several topic from BBC. I recommend it because I just play the sound track while I am doing something.  And because the audio are short, just few minutes, it won't cost too much time.  After listening, you can always take a look at the transcript. ...

When it comes to learning English, I guess many learners would love to better their pronunciation! Although we can check up the dictionary to see the phonetics of a word, sometimes we just don't know how to pronounce by ourself or we are not sure about it. You might say, nowadays, there are online dictionaries that provide sounds for us to listen to.  YouGlish offers learners a tool to listens to how real people pronounce a word in a context! What is Word Cloud? As you can see above, it's an image composed of words used in a particular text or subject, in which the size of each word indicates its frequency or importance.  Most word cloud programs work in the same, straight-forward way; the more a word is used in the text, the bigger it is shown in the cloud. How to make a word cloud? You have to have some texts to copy and paste in on a word cloud tool. Click the button. There you are. It will show you a group of words like the image above. Words are in different sizes and colours and you can change the colours, the layout, the fonts...and so on. What is Hot Potatoes ? The Hot Potatoes is a sex of six authoring tools, created by the Research and Development team at the University of Victoria Humanities Computing and Media Centre. They enable you to create interactive Web-based exercises of 5 basic types.  The exercises are standard Web pages using XHTML 1.1 code for display, and JavaScript (ECMAScript) for interactivity.  It is supported by all common browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and so on. Also, you can create exercise in any language, or in a mixture of languages . You don't need to know anything about XHTML or JavaScript to use the programs. All you need to do is to enter your data - texts, questions, answers etc. - and the programs will create the Web pages for you. Then you can post them on your Web site. Hot Potatoes is a freeware.
